Dear lesbians and womyn,
we write you to give you some news about Roberta’s situation. She had been
arrested on the 16th of July 2001; now 7 months are passed, and she is
still in jail!
The news are that both the two claims for the house arrest for Roberta had
been rejected!
The 10th of January there was the claim to the Trial of Freedom; the
request was supported with a letter written by Roberta’s teachers, in which
they asked her to be allowed to come back to school. A week later we had
known that the answer was negative (the judges of the Trial of Freedom are
always the same).
The 7th of February the Court of Cassation, whose president was the judge
Mario Sossi, had reject again a claim for the house arrest for Roberta
(this time it was the claim after the refusal of the house arrest given by the Trial of Freedom on the 31st of July). We think that the president of
this Court cannot clearly judge and, above all, discern, because in the
1974 he had been kidnapped by the Brigate Rosse.
We also think that in such an historical moment, in which the fear of
terrorism is easily used everywhere to influence the consciences and thus
to indiscriminately repress with coercive and compelling laws, police
controls, military occupations of the lands, no judge can be better that
another one.
There are no other chances for Roberta to be released before the beginning
of the trial.
The Prosecuting Attorney (the judge prosecutor) Di Siervo, hasn’t fixed yet
the day for beginning of the trial; but he keeps declaring that, according
to him, the circle is closed and keeps saying he doesn’t need any further
elements.
We want to remind you that, actually, on the 12th of November 2001, within
the inquiry that regards Roberta, Magistracy and police have completed a
new arrest; it has been motivated with the recovery of an insert in the
inside of the computers which had been seized during the searches carried
out the day of the arrest of Roberta and Fabrizio.
The investigations about the computers seized during the last arrest, are
still in course; they will be probably concluded at the beginning of march.
Thus, in conformity with the technical time, the trial could start at the
beginning of May.
The situation is heavy!
Roberta is strong, even if she knows she must remain in jail for a long
time further.
She always writes us, sending the best and strongest greetings to all the
women who write her and who are close to her.
We ask you to keep supporting both Roberta herself (let’s write her, let’s
constantly write her!), and us; because, even if the situation of the
Supporting Committee is difficult, we always try to be at her side and we
keep fighting for her liberation!
We also ask you to keep collecting money, which are necessary both for
Roberta while she’s in jail, both for the legal expenses.
