NO TO THE BARBARITY OF NEOLIBERALISM
RESPECT FOR THE HUMAN RIGHTS OF POLITICAL PRISONERS

A delegation of the protestors met with some delegates of the embassy, among
whom was present Marco Carreon,
presented as the Minister of the embassy. Substantially disturbed by our
presence, the delegates of the embassy
declared that their government is working for a peaceful solution, but
reiterating the considerable firmness of president
Alberto Fujimori. For our part we confirm the requests already declared,
underscoring our constant presence, attention
and mobilization concerning the occurrences.
At approximately 7:40 in the afternoon, while the protestors were peacefully
dispersing, certain elements of our "forces of
order," demonstrating their contrarity to the success of the protest, and
their "solidarity" with their homologues, stopped
two isolated companions, identifying them.

-Esteemed companions, I want to thank you in the name of the national
direction of MRTA, of the companions of the
comando "Edgar Sanchez" and of the companions imprisoned in various jails in
Peru.
Since December 16 the prisoners initiated, as you all know, a general hunger
strike in protest of the Peruvian government
in order to demand answers and action against the inhumane jailing regime.
This strike coincided with the seizing of the Japanese embassy on behalf of
the commando "Edgar Sanchez", whose
principal objective was the liberation of all our companions who are
injustly detained for striving for a better society. We
reemphasize our thanks for the show of solidarity demonstrated by the
pressure that you all are also exercising in this
moment upon which depends a negociated solution for the exchange of
political prisoners with the Peruvian government.
