The tragedy taking place at the Japanese embassy in Lima (Peru), where a
unit of the MRTA has 490 hostages belonging
to the diplomatic body of various countries of the world, is the logical
consequence of the barbarity that multinational
capitalism has unleashed against the popular masses, by way of measures of
structural economic change which drive
millions of societally marginalized people quickly to a promise of death by
starvation.
Latin America, understood as a geographic area of political factions where
measures of the IMF and the World Bank are
applied, has been precocious in this bleeding process.
-An economic compromise in Peruvian economics for a model that follows the
well-being of the people;
-The liberation of political prisoners and all those who are or are not
presumed to belong to political organizations in
arms;
-the guaranteed free release for the group which disrupted the embassy;
-Respect of the international treaty of conventions with respect to prison,
reclusion, isolation, and human and civil rights;
-immediate retraction of the antiterrorist law n. 25475.
From the Chile of Pinochet and the Chicago Boys (the group of liberal US
economists), to the Mexico of the Salinas of
Gortari and the Zedillos, to Menem's Argentina, there has been unleashed a
wave of rebellion against the politics of
starvation, death, brutal repression and special jails employed by the
barbaric servants of multinational financial power.
In the Peru of the usurper Fujimori, where 6000 political prisoners suffer
the systematic politics of extermination
(Fujimori's statement-from the jailtombs, only the dead will emerge-), the
popular masses are inevitably forced to take
radical measures to stop the general violence and violation of human and
civil rights. And they are not emphatic or
partidiary considerations if Amnesty International periodically denounces
these facts to the UN assembly.
We,The grass-roots committees, committees of solidarity, and social centers
ask that the announced forthcoming tragedy
in Lima not be realized and we ask for the minimal guarantees that the
irreparable not take place, reaffirming our
demands:
COMITADO DI SOLIDARIETA' CON I POPOLI DEL LATINO AMERICA "CARLOS FONSECA".
